Default Where did you mount your gps antenna?

Hey, I am planning on installing a pioneer avic X910BT in my Z, just curious where everyone is mounting the gps antenna. Pics would be great also, thanks!

Dead nutz center of the dash. Under the plastic works too.

^^ Yes…

I think people worry too much about the mounting position for the GPS antenna/receiver. That is probably because the manufacturer recommends in the installations instructions that you mount the GPS antenna/receiver outside the car (they usually recommend a roof mount). That is overkill. In fact you can mount the GPS antenna/receiver inside the car, and even under plastic panels, and expect good results

I have my GPS antenna/receiver on the rear strut bar in the Z coupe, and it works perfectly. Placement in the upper/forward cubby works as well (I mounted a Garmin here, and reception was not a problem).

About the only way to defeat GPS reception is mounting the antenna/receiver where it is” blocked by/shrouded in” sheet metal.

i mounted mine for my pioneer vehicle dynamic processor in my passenger a pillar beside my factory gps antenna. it has worked very well for me. the pannel had enough room to easily fit and there was a large enough flat spot for the magnet to grab onto. when i do an alarm starter i may also hide that antenna there for a nice clean stealthy install
