Question Do I need a bluetooth adapter?

Okay, here's the deal. I have an '07 touring 350Z with steering wheel controls for the bose unit and bluetooth (no nav).

I just purchased a new headunit to replace the stock Bose unit - Alpine iDA-X305S. I know that I will need to buy an adapter unit to be able to use my steering wheel stereo controls, but what about the bluetooth?? Alpine makes a bluetooth adapter, but will I lose my bluetooth when I replace the headunit??? Do I need to buy this adapter or will I still have it after the headunit swap?

If you want bluetooth on your alpine, then yes you have to buy the adapter.

FYI, regarding the Bose system Bluetooth steering wheel controls, I wasn't able to get my Axxess ASWC to recognize any of the switches. You might have better luck with the PAC product, but I doubt it.

I'm pulling out the Bluetooth steering wheel switches and will be installing a steering wheel control from a non-bluetooth model. Right now, I'm just waiting on some new airbag bolts before I can finish this project. I'll tap directly into the molex harness after the clock spring on the steering wheel column to ensure that I'm connecting to the right wires. I'll do a write-up when it's finished.

The Bluetooth controls screw everything up on these Bose systems. I spent an hour with tech support at Metra to try to get their factory switch controller to work and they basically gave up. They said it probably had something to do the Bluetooth control wires going to the back of the car, which is where the Bluetooth unit sits.

Hmmmm, thanks for the info. Well, I'm buying a KCE-400BT bluetooth adapter that's made for Alpine headunits. Still not sure how this all is supposed to work, but I'll leave that up to the install guys.
