Default Unidentified electrical component

Hi guys,

Long time lurker / shopper, first time posting (I think).

The other day I noticed a fused wire hanging under my drivers side dash. I followed it behind the driver side kick panel and found this:

In case the images aren't clear it has a button labled "Mute", a red LED labled "Alert" and a green LED labled "On".

There is a power / ground wire and a wide flat wire that looks like a phone cord. The "phone cord" goes up into the dash so I was hoping someone could tell me what this is and save me from pulling the whole dash apart.

Thanks!!!

Yeah, I bought the car used. Haven't found the jack end yet. It's treaded up through the dash but the thing on the left of your picture is it. Thanks for the quick feedback!!!

Look for the jacked end up in the headliner behind the rear-view mirror. Thats where I have mine mounted.

I got it out. Looks like the previous owner took the radar detector and just tucked the wire back in the dash. The jack is in good shape. If anybody wants it it's a "free take one". Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll send it to you.

I wish I could be so lucky. Oh well. Maybe I can convince the wife to let me spend $500 on a radar detector since I already have the $30 hard wire kit...
