can you test an amp to tell if its bad?

Default can you test an amp to tell if its bad?

I bought a used amp online, after hooking it up it doesnt turn on. the power indicator doesnt come on. i know its getting juice .the fuse looks good also. is the amp bad?

i am afraid that its the wire from the HU that tells the amp to turn on

Get a test light and see if the remote amp turn on wire is sending a signal, if you don't have a test light, try wiring it up to a relay and hear it click if it turns on. Try these to rule out the amp turn on wire. A suggest a test light, it really helps a lot for many other things. Is your amp grounded properly also?

if your worried about the remote turn on just hook a constant 12volt to both the positive and remote of the amp and see if it turns on .if not the bye bye mr amp

well i jumped the remote wire with the power wire and the amp came on so it must be the remote wire thats the problem. at least i know the amp is good.

Get yourself a dimm it could of figured it out a long time ago plus everyone should have one in their tool box there only $10
