My trunk install (V2.0) *pics*
I have done two prior trunk systems with my car but because of complications, product changes and the quest for something cool, I have completely revamped and revised my trunk set up. Here are the components I am using:
- Headunit: Pioneer AVIC-Z120
- Front speakers: Digital Designs DD-A German components in custom f/g door and A-pillar pods
- Subwoofer: Digital Designs DD3510 DVC2
- Amplifier 1: DD S4A (100 Watts X2, 200 watts X2) running active to the fronts
- Amplifier 2: DD M2A (2300 watts RMS X1 @1 ohm)
- Enclosure: Fibreglass and MDF, 1.5 cubic feet ported
Amp rack
Bottom section of the enclosure
Amp rack 'in' the enclosure
Special secret hidden port
Setting up the mounting baffle. Note the port at the very back of the car.
I will keep you all updated as to my progress. I have already fleece wrapped the sub ring and bottom mounting plate and given it a coat of resin. I have added 3 layers of fibreglass/resin as well and have about 6 more layers to go!

Not too worried about weight as this is not a track car (anymore). She has been semi-retired and will now be used to compete in IASCA sound quality competitions as well as showcase my work and my shop's work. Here's a picture of the outside for those who may be interested:

I realize that your thread isn’t about the door pods, and I’m also aware that good etiquette when posting replies is not reposting original pictures (to save bandwidth and thread room/scrolling); but, Boy Howdy that is one great door pod! It deserves a second look and the picture is integral to my comments.

The great things about your door pod:
- It looks just great!
- It’s angled slightly upwards and slightly rearwards. That positioning allows great staging. It provides the best of both solutions (better sound/staging you get from kicks but no loss of the dead pedal on the driver’s side or restricted foot space on the passenger side).
- The graceful angle at the lower border of the door pod is both attractive and functional since it looks good and mitigates the problem of scraping the door pod with your foot when entering/exiting the car.

Woah thanks a lot guys! I know a few of you guys are really good installers/stereo enthusiasts so those compliments make me happyhappy!
The front stage sounds absolutely stunning. I have crossed my midbass drivers right on down to 50 hertz and the midbass notes hit you in the chest like a sack of hammers. Its very impressive. There is one slight problem however....The staging is a tad left-biased. This will be rectified when I add a processor with time-alignment (within the next two weeks I promise!). Depth and width are quite good but could use a little tweeking as well.
Here is another shot of the pod from a different angle:

I have read a little bit about these but not convinced on their sound quality as of yet. Here are a few options I had/have:
1): Audison Bit1 - I installed one in a 2010 Camaro SS with the new Arc Audio mini amps and it was 100% garbage. Hiss, floor noise, whine and general poopy sound was what this thing made regardless or any settings we played with. Its a very expensive paperweight. Traded this in for a DQXS.
2) Audiocontrol DQXS - Fantastic control, beautiful sound, impressive line driver built right in and a Digital Dash controller made this unit pretty damn sweet. Too bad it does not have time-alignment. Audiocontrol promised one for this year but no dice...arrgghh!
3) JL Cleansweep - Overpriced...underfeatured.
4) MTX RE-Q - Cheap...but also really 'cheap'. Poor sound quality.
5) Pioneer PRS-99 deck. Amazing SQ deck but I have to have my screen! How else am I to watch ****...er...uh...movies? Expensive as hell too!
6) Rockford 3Sixty.2 - Impressive little unit with 31 bands per channel! Its small, has time-alignment, is very easy to set up and use (via bluetooth) and the price fits my budget nicely. I will be trying this unit out to see if its got the cojones for my listening preferences.
