Powered Subs??

Powered Subs??
How are they? Are they worth $250-$300 for one with about 150watt-300watt amp?? I'm looking at several ones, and I don't need something that bumps ridiculously loud, but something that bumps... I mainly listen to hip-hop/rap, and I'd like something that hits those low notes good, and can make my ear cherry pop. I'm on a budget, and I already have an aftermarket Clarion double-din deck. I'm trying to spend under $500 for sub/amp/box. I don't have any aftermarket speakers, I'm still on the OEM Bose speakers. Just need some more bass. Thanks!
Suggestions with a link would be great!!
Are bazooka's worth the money?? My friend had a cheaper bazooka in his car and it wasn't that bad...
What do you guys think about this?

i am not very fond of bazookas
you talking about something that they are trying to have the driver, amp, and enclosure all in one
bad idea you have no control over the tuning as it is ported
i think the tuning is probably on the high side and it would be very mid bassy and not capture the lows with any authority
as well as they tend to roll around and not stay seated
i prefer an enclosure tuned to 35 hertz if you like rap and the low end
if you to put an amp in, a head unit, a box, and sub i think it will be better
in my opinion

I had Bazzokas for a while. Sounds exactly as they look, like a sub installed in a bongo.
It's really a quick and dirty way to get some bass or if space is limited. Not a first choice by any means.

dude they are crap. finding subs really depends on what you want from your speakers. if they have more highs then go with a kicker set up that deliver more bass. if they are pretty even then some kenwoods or alpine subs. personally i have alpine components in the front and alpine in the back with a 12" kicker L7.

Also if the amplifier OR speaker is broken the entire thing goes in the trash.
