Default Stock Wiring Power Rating

Would the stock front speaker wires be able to handle 70 Watts RMS...I would rather not take apart the Molex Plugs and drill into them (in fear of cutting wires / bending pins / etc.).

This way I could just cut the speaker wires on the inside of the car (before the wires enter the Molex Plugs / harness) and join them to the speaker wires coming out of my amplifier.

how about this ???...does anyone happen to know the stock speaker wire gauge...the 70W RMS is the max RMS output (at some THD)and will only be applied over a length of about 1 to 2 feet into a 4 ohm load...I think it should be okay but just need a confirmation...

come on guys...i know you guys gotta know this...thanks...

Stock speaker wiring in the 350Z is thicker than most vehicles: 18AWG.
Over ten feet, with a 4ohm speaker load, your power loss (wire heating) will be roughly: 18AWG: 3.2%

But anyway, I personally re-run with high quality speaker wire myself. Then again I just can't stand the thought of the stock wires running to a pair of $600 component speakers.

I would rather take the time to do a professional installation, giving me the peace of mind that it's done 100% correctly. But 18AWG can handle up to just about 200W or so, so if it's not bugging you, just use the stock wiring harness.

*sigh* --- finally...thanks man...

the original plan was to drill through the molex plugs...but after reading the disaster stories (bcm issues / bent pins / mirror issues / window issues / PITA / PITA / PITA -- lol)...I decided that because the power may be up to 70W RMS at max volume ( so I imagine at normal listening levels - I should probably never even exceed something like 8 to 16 watts (= roughly 100 / 103 db) -- with 91 db sensity and some loss of power through crossover)...i decided to run 16 gauge to the harness and splice into the current stock wires...

i guess i will rethink / replan if I end up bridging the 2 channels on the amp...
