I tried on my 04 touring (no nav) cubby, and on 08 cubby.. The one on the picture is from 04. Non of them will fit this monitor...

And I was thinking to remove cubby door also but didn't come up with an idea how to make it look clean...

Anybody tried to fit alpine in the cubby???

the one that i have used and other people on here im assuming is the cubby with the retractable door. not the door that pops up. it has more room. ill see if i can find the pictures when i installed it on my friends 05.

I used an ’03 cubby since it has a removable pocket (the back). You simply unscrew the back and replace this with the monitor.

Cubbys with fixed pockets require surgery to remove the back and fix the monitor in place.

Can you fit this retractable door cubby in the 04 center dash panel?

If I understand your question, the answer is yes. The 03’ cubby does fit an 04’ Z, although the color is slightly different. I’m not sure about the 05” Z, and the 03’ cubby does not fit 2006 and newer Z’s.

The alpine monitor will fit the cubby. The 03’ cubby provides the easiest installations since you can simply unscrew the rear pocket of the 03’ cubby and replace this with your Alpine monitor.

Alpine TME-S370 6.5" WVGA Touch Screen Monitor

Alpine TME-S370 is a 6.5" monitor (not 7”), but its case is large enough so it mounts well against the back of the Z’s cubby once you remove the cubby’s rear pocket. The bezel that retained the 03’s rear pocket becomes the finishing piece around the front edge of the monitor’s case, providing a professional looking installation. You can hold the monitor in place using the screws that originally retained the 03 cubby’s rear pocket. If that does not feel secure, add a couple of mounting straps across the back of the monitor.

If you have a 2006 or later Z, you will need to cut the rear pocket away from the cubby’s face (preserving the bezel that will be your finishing piece), and then use mounting straps to hold the monitor against the back of the cubby. Check the CarPC sites for pictures and detailed mounting instructions.

I have one more question for you guys. I'm currently building my carMac/PC. I had a little concern about the touch screen monitor. I wanted to go with MIMO 710s since it is a usb powered and capable to work with Mac OSX. I had a lot of people telling me that it's not working as reliable as it should be, since the monitor freezes sometimes and sometimes the touch screen never works. you guys have any idea what to go with instead of MIMO 710s or 720s since both have the same problem.

I have not read about the problems you describe with the MIMO 710s, but my experience with this monitor is not as a display for a CarPC. I would not use a USB powered monitor in a CarPC configuration.

Check the CarPC forums for the best advice. There are many choices for touch screen LCD’s that work with the Macintosh.
