Thank you so very much!
The best photographed audio install i`ve seen in my live.Really takes away the scare for me of replacing the blose-speakers.
I bet i can do this install by only watching your pics,no words needed.
Only thing i wonder is the golden wire exiting the door?
The install should be possible with the original wires which are in the black rubber-tube but maybe you did this because you prefere larger diameter wires?

Thank you again for thinking at us first-time-Z-audio-installers

Charly, yes, the gold wiring is the thicker speaker wire I used.
I thought the wire that came with the Alpines looked very thin.

Glad I could give something back to this forum that has helped me so so much

Oh yeah, if you have any more questions about installing type r components I'll answer as best I can.

The question is: how do they sound? Did you provide some additional amplification over the stock unit?

This is my complete set up:

http://www.paragonwest.com:8080/350zmods/mysetup.htm

It sounds so freaken good! The highs are so perfect, midrange and bass hit the sweet spot just right. Zapco makes some of the cleanest sounding amps out there. I bought the amp off ebay very cheap.

I just wanted a clean sounding system and I accomplished it with the components I chose. I am still setting up the amp (32 inches long!) under the rear stabilizer bar and have to determine where I'm going to place the sub (currently in box in the back). I will also use some type of sound proofing to finalize my set up.

I installed my Type-R 10" sub on the rear corner... it was built with a fiberglass box.. It sounded pretty nice, not boomy, but clean bass! you should try to utilize that dead space there...

I almost bought those same components today. How are the tweeters? Is there any harshness? They are silk dome aren't they?

Yes, tweeters are silk dome. Compared to the stock tweeters there is just no comparison. My wife was saying that it sounded like the band was playing live inside the car. Maybe the clean sound of the ZAPCO amp I used had something to do with it.

This article is right on:

If you think you want to get these, you may want to consider www.ikesound.com (~140 including shipping). I got all my stuff through them.
