rear stock speakers with amp
Just wondering if anyone here has hooked up the stock bose rear speakers to an aftermarket amp. What ohms are the speakers? is this even worth it? going to finish my install tomorrow and im going to take all the panels off so while its off i might consider this. My amp is a 4 channel pioneer (link below) pushing
4 ohms: 75 watts x 4 chan.
2 ohms: 100 watts x 4 chan.
My front speakers are components. I am planning on upgrading the rears later year or two so was thinking using the stock bose rears till then.

I've heard that the stock Bose speakers are actually an "odd" ohms rating... but I'm having trouble locating the thread I read it in. You can always "try" it... but I'd say there's at least a 75% chance it won't work. If anything I'd just replace them if you're already going to be there to hook up the amp's wires to the speaker anyway. If not... I'd leave them untouched and not worry about it.

question
stock speakers are most likely the worst quality speakers ever produced.
I would not be worried about ohms etc.. the impact is negligible in this situation.
I would however replace them. Whats it going to cost you, 100 bucks? cmon.

I would replace the rear speakers with a couple of decent coaxials (self-contained two-way speakers). Doing that solves the issue connecting Bose to non-Bose, and you will get much better sound.
By “decent,” I mean a moderately priced speaker set that will cost < $100. The rear speakers are only for “fill,” so you don’t need to go high-end and expen$ive.
Another option is simply disconnecting the cheap OEM Bose rear speakers. Lousy speakers with paper cones only pollute the sound you get from your better front components.

Stock speakers on the bose system?
Mine are fine on power acoustik gts 2500 5 channel amp.
You have to use and amp that will handle the low ohm speakers or they
could be heard as crap.
The four corners are 2.3 ohms each per my fluke in my 04 touring roadster and my latest, 07 gt roadster.
The sub is 1/2 ohm.
I will eventually change the sub but unless you want to shake your neighbors...It works fine with plenty of bass.
As info

Eventually happened. I bought the polk audio 10 inch sub. Installed it today.
I got the marine model. I don't plan on spraying it with salt spray but nice knowing polk did. Their MM line of subs are better marine models but this one is more than fine for me. I put it in the stock location and did not use expanding foam to seal and reduce the size of the oem box.

Connected it in parallel on it's dual voice coils making 2 ohms. Sounds excellent leaving all settings flat. Turn up the bass and some would like it but too much for me. This gt5-2500 amp has a remote gain control for the sub so it makes it too ez to tweak on the fly song to song since I don't want the license plate vibrating thing going on.
