Components or coaxials
I have a 2008 350 and have been planning on ripping out the stock speaks for some time now. I had planned on adding components to the front but after some searching on the forum i concluded it might be a a waste of money because I didn't want to add an amp. I know the amp would add better sound quality and provide more power but I just don't feel like spending the money on it nor placing it same with a why I was against a sub. Should I just continue with the idea of adding the components and go underpowered which is hear is bad or save the money and replace the setup with some coaxial speakers and a set of tweeters?

Either way you go, having an amp will help the sound. I have older MBQ separates up front and matched 6-5" coax MBQs out back in my Z. Turning off the amp really muddies the overall sound, so there IS a difference you can hear! Maybe selecting some separates with lower power needs could work, but it limits your speaker selection and the overall sound potential.
If your plan is replacing the front speakers and not adding an external amp, I would definitely go with two-way coaxial speakers. I say this simply because you have a greater choice of speakers that operate with less power if you go with two-way coaxials.
Since you are not installing an external amp, shop for a coaxial speaker that operates with minimal power. Infinity makes such a speaker. The sound is much better than the very cheap stock Clarion components you have now in your front doors.
Incidentally, there are high quality two-way coaxial speakers, but these require an external amp for optimal sound. And, almost all the aftermarket components speakers really do need an external amp.
Hope this is helpful,
