Default Speaker question, already search with no luck

I was wondering if the Polk Audio dxi6500 (front) and dxi650 (rear) would fit with my 2003 Z (Non Bose). They are 6.5"

I already search on here and Google and couldn't get a definitive answer.

Thanks

Alright so all (or 99%) of 6.5" speakers will fit the front and rear (with a spacer if needed)?

I assume you want to use the Z’s stock speaker mounting positions (front door and rear mount). If that’s the case, here is what you need for this:

The Polk Audio DXi650 two-way coaxial speaker fits the Z’s rear speaker space with no modification. It’s pretty much a simple swap for the OEM speaker.

The Polk Audio DXi6500 6-1/2" component speaker system does fit the Z’s stock front door mount with these modifications:
  • The depth-to-wall measurement of the Polk Audio DXi6500’s midrange component is less than 2 inches, so it fits. You need a spacer, and you can probably use the mounting ring from the OEM speaker for this. Separate the OEM speaker from its mounting ring and save the mounting ring to use as the spacer to mount the DXi6500 in the stock door speaker slot. You will need to drill new holes in the mounting ring to align to the new speakers’ mounting holes (which is simple to do).

  • The DXi6500’s tweeter may not fit the stock Sail Panel without some modification, and even doing that may not provide a good fitment. If you cannot fit the DXi6500’s tweeter into the stock Sail Panel, consider mounting the tweeter in the A-Pillar (it will fit there).
The Polk Audio speakers you are considering provide very good sound even if you drive them with the internal amp in the H/U. An external amp provides better sound with these speakers, but it is not a requirement to achieve good sound since these speakers are very efficient under low power.
