zenclosure ported box with 10 inch sub?
hello all, been lurking here a while but I just registerd! anyway, I bought a zenclosure box
http://www.zenclosures.com/Nissan_35...x_p/z110ar.htm
it has 1.4 ft3 airspace, the exsact amount recomended for a ported box for the alpine swx 1043d I did the math, and it looks like at 3 inches i would need a 22 inch tube. so thats no good, but at 4 inches, i need 16.8 for 35hz. is this dooable? im realtively new to the world of sub boxes and was wondering if im missing anything that the pros might catch. also, is 35hz the best? some say 33, but ive heard more for 35.. also, can I put the tube coming out the side running the width of the box at the bottom corner so it doesnt interfere with the magnet? also, is 4" too big? will it reverb? anyway, thanks in advance for the help! I know there are similar posts to this, but none that really answered my questions

ill be honest, ported enclosures are no bueno in my opinion.
They dont sound good, especially is you like fast music.
Its really not necc in such a small car.. there will be wave loading happening already ( waves longer then the distance in airspace uniformly compress the air in the cabin) .. the port must generally always face the exact same way as the face of the sub.. you will introduce phase problems galore doing it any other way... all that port really fintions as is an additional "pipe organ" that will reinforce a certain limited tone and make the sound louder at that range only..ever see a real pipe organ? takes alot of pipes to play music doesnt it? Imagine playing a pipe organ.. that has one note.
no good man.

also use the seach function before posting... keeps the thread count down and makes further searching for others far easier...
seach.. advanced search... title only.. bang.

well i wouldnt go do that persay...
i mean how far " too large" is it for your sub sealed?
And remember too large is realtive.. call the manufacturee ( alpine correct? 1800tech101) and tell them your woofer and airsize and ask what the specs would be.. the sound will change, but it may actually be just fine.. theres no one PERFECT box.. they just reccomend the one that gives propwer cooling, powerhandling and also a reasonable sound curve.
And dont add MDF.. its porous, and heavy as hell still.. just use a chunk of styrofoam wrapped in a taped safeway bag or a towel so it doesnt break apart n get everywhere.
And thats onyl if u HAVE to.
Car audio can get ridiculously high tech.. been there done that.. in the end, little changed w the different set ups i encountered.
