Aftermarket System Question...
Actually, I lied. Not one, but two questions:
One - With an aftermarket unit, will the steering wheel mounted buttons still work? (For 04's+)
Two - What is the best sound setup (I know this is an opinion question, but please explain why you feel the way you do) for the 350Z??
Im looking to spend around $1000.00. I am interested in the best possible sound quality, with a side interest in loudness.

I can't tell you what the BEST setup is, but I can HIGHLY recommend mine (sig)... not so sure you can get it for 1k, but if you look long enough it should be close without all the dynamat...
Steering wheel buttons can be made to work with aftermarket stuff but it's a pain in the ***. (It makes me feel bad for those S2000 guys with all those silly stereo buttons on the side of the instrument cluster--as if reaching just in front of the shifter to control the radio is that difficult)
For $1000? I'd just install a nice aftermarket headunit, nice 2 channel amp (~50-75 watts) and some good quality components up front. You don't really need rear speakers and can save a couple hundred bucks by not installing them. The bass will be adequate unless you're used to having a sub.
