Congrats on being out of HS lol I can't wait to be out.
Yeah after experiencing both sq and spl setups I figured sq seems too be better for a daily driver. It seems like you have a sweet system

Wrong. The secret in porting is tuning the port correctly and to fit your sub / output needs.

Right and Wrong. Again, it depends on how you tune your enclosure. Normally a lot of people use band pass style enclosures to widen the range, if you want to call it that, but they are still technically ported.

Just remember. The choice you make on sound, and SPECIALLY BASS, is 100% influenced on YOUR taste. You will never please everyone you meet with your system. I have a knucklehead friend who god forbid he uses anything BUT kicker products. For him L7s are a build from god and everything else is ****. I personally do NOT like how it sounds.

Sound quality, unless analyzed with a specific criteria, is entirely personal opinion and a personal choice.

Again, I recommend you to try RE. But I am in no position to sit here and tell you RE is better than Type Rs, JLs, or anything else really. I have my own opinions based on my experience + knowledge about sound that I've acquired over the years.

And if you are on a tight money budget, everyone here is right. You don't have to buy the best of the best. Sometimes a lesser known brand might please you more than the big dogs. Plus, the generally educated dummies will come up to you and either be surprised with how well it plays and talk **** about it for not being a big dog brand, or will give you kudos and be curious about it.

Good luck on your build, and remember, satisfy yourself first before you worry about satisfying others.

my "un-known fi btl" to mainstream brand buying people, always leaves them speechless. now i also was a sucker for kicker and other products back in the day before i heard of the internet stuff. now that i have made the switch i would never go back. it's not even comparable.

i like smashes on the lows and movin air. so im not big into sound quality.
