Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 VQ Sub?
Thinking about installing the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 sub behind my drivers seat. According to crutchfield's review it is suitable for up to 200W free-air use.. It is $299.99 at crutchfield. Has anyone used this model in this kind of application? I already purchased the speaker mounting bracket and bose grille, before looking into different setups. Will this sub even fit in the compartment behind the drivers seat? Would there be enough room left over to mount an amp below it?

A) Infinity is a GREAT brand! Check my sig... I love the SQ.
B) Do NOT buy from crutchfield... much cheaper on eBay.
C) Get a sealed box for the Infinity brand subs so they sound like they are made to- clean and tight. You will not be happy with it in a free-air enclosure such as behind the drivers seat.

Would the sealed box fit in the compartment behind the drivers seat? I really dont want to mess around with mounting the box, etc... I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200ix 500W RMS @ 4 Ohm amplifier to power it. I cannot sacrifice the cargo space. IS there a box that will fit in between the center pillar and the rear strut tower brace? Would it be possible to get a decent sound if tighten the screws up with liquid nails, and dynomat the hell out of the compartment behind the drivers seat? How bad could 200W free air sound?
You can get a custom fiberglass sub enclosure for that space at many pro audio installation places (I did at Sound Advice, in Tampa), for about 300 bucks. It's worth it, although if you fix it good and dynomat the hell out of it, like you say, it'll probably sound good enough. I'm with you on preserving whatever storage space possible.
Think I will try the DynoMat and tightening/glueing all of the screws down real well. Not sure what kind of DynoMat to get or what kind of glue to seal the screws. Any idea who makes these fiberclass enclosures? Are they available for order on the internet somewhere?

yes those are good subs, i was about to get the 10" and put it in the sub hole behind the driver, i understand that infinity has a VQ that is free air...so u might not have to spend money on a box, but the quality probably wont be as good as a sealed...just a thought that might help
Well actually, the Perfect 10 VQ comes with several driver inserts which allow it to operate in either a sealed box or in a free air, infinite baffle application (like the Bose, or JL model). Might go with a custom box that can fit in there though. I don't know, going to try sticking it in there first.
I have to disagree with the people bashing on Crutchfield here. I definitely would not say "do not buy at Crutchfield." Crutchfield is sort of a double-edged sword. On one hand, you get amazing service and support and they fully back up any product they sell. (I have first-hand experience with this.) On the other hand, their prices can get pretty darn high as they often sell at MSRP.
I'll admit that I usually shop elsewhere on the net in order to get much cheaper prices, but I still feel Crutchfield is a very, very good company aside from their high prices. Sometimes you can catch them having a sale on an item that you want, and if that's the case they can be your best bet!

I agree for the most part. They just put the HU I wanted on sale (Clarion DX735MP), $80 off to $219.99 which includes harness and mounting hardware (a $32.98 value) and on top of that there is FREE shipping. Usually comes with detailed instructions, but not available for the 350Z. They are very helpful, and their customer service is very good. There prices on average are WAY higher than many other places. Turns out I couldn't get this on etronics anyway so seemed like a good deal.
Their service is certainly great, plus they have the 30-day satisfaction deal on most (if not all) of what they sell. My roommate just bought a headunit and some speakers from them, and was very dissatisfied with the headunit. He called them last night at 11pm, and they answered immediately with no hold time. He said he wanted to exchange the headunit for another model, and they agreed with no questions asked. They even cross-shipped the new headunit to him FedEx, so he doesn't have to be without one for any period of time. Nice.
