Default Installing a new Sub

I have a 05 350z touring packing with the Bose system. I want to replace the factory sub with a 12' one & have it installed in the same space that the factory one goes into behind the drivers seat. Does anyone on the board know if the sub listed below would work?

onto the stock mount, NO. why? because the mount is set up specifically to the bose which is only a 10inch speaker and its a funky shape, plus the bose amp will not power that speaker adequately. save ur money and buy a JL stealthbox or go to any stereo shop and have them customize one.

I'm actually taking out all of the Bose equipment, Car door speakers, Rear Speakers and amp. I was going to pull the factory sub out of that box & just use that area that it sits in. I really don't want to have a custom box built in the trunk because cargo space in the car is at a premium as it is. So even with modifications is it totally impossible to make use of that space?

A few people have done this but with less then stellar results. It's not the best place to put a sub. Why not remove your spare and make a flush mount enclosure there?

I actually have the spare removed already, would I have to do anything special to mount it this way?

Build the box to fit the space and then pad it so that it is snug.

That might be my Plan B or C. I've been looking at the older threads and I found a few setups that I like. There are a few members that have mounted 10's subs in the rear deck at the corner of the trunk & that's going for that clean look that i'm trying to do. Mounting it in the trunk would work as well since it will be hidden.

Mounted a JL Audio 10W3v3-2 10” in a custom enclosure I made w/ a friend. Took the better part of the weekend to complete. You will need to grind out the upper brackets inside the hole to make it work. The thread on here that shows the cutout is what we used. It fires downward at the gas tank pump and we kept the foam mat placed between the sub and the metal flooring. Also added 3 brackets and bolted it to the stock holes that the Bose bracket was used to mount to. Used 3/4 MDF and fill. Hooked up to a 500/1 with JL Amp kit. Sounds great for tight base. Also has a boom if you have a headunit that has standalone adjustable bass settings.

That's closer to what i'm looking to do. I found this thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...er-market.html

It looks like other's have had the same Idea I had about doing this. It looks like I could have a custom box built and go with a better sub than the Infinity BassLink. I'm just hoping that a 12' can fit in there as well as a 10'.

I was able to take out my Bose sub and placed a 10" Sony Xplod. ( I know, I got it cheap) But I have to say I wasnt looking for huge thump just better sound. You really have to fill the back with something to take up space as to not damage the sub or build an enclosure. Each sub needs a specific amount of air in its enclosure to perform correctly. I wanted everything to look stock which is what I got but the best way is a dedicated enclosure in the back of the car. Good luck!

Thanks, i'm looking to stay with a stock look myself. The only gotcha with my setup is I have a 12' sub instead of a 10' one. I'm getting everything installed tomorrow so i'll report back.

Update? BTW a 12" cannot fit whatsoever in the stock location using a box with proper air space.
