Unhappy Just got a WX-7700MDX...

From ebay, and it's missing the Nissan trim ring and the mounting screws! Grr.. Well, off to Best Buy tomorrow for the harness, and maybe a mounting kit if I find one (will it work?)

Hopefully be installed by this weekend at the latest.

Okay, so the seller never got back to me (you're gonna get some good feedback!) and I had to run to Home Depot for the screws, bought the Metra kit with the double din adapter (looks ok), and got the radio working.

Man, the thing looks great. Sounds way better then the stock system, tho I need to figure out how to tweak the EQ. Kinda annoying to have to do so much from the remote, but it is nice cause I can put it away and passengers can't screw things up.

Anyway, love it. Total cost, Radio: $405 including shipping off ebay, harness $16, kit $16. Now, I just needs me some amps and a sub box!

Man, you got it for that cheap? Was it used? That is hands down the sweetest HU for the Z. I never get tired of seeing pics of that install (hint, hint).

Congrats on your purchase! I'd put one in my Z if it was XM capable.

How about some pics?

It is XM capable as far as I know; I'll check tonight if I can find the manual (I've already lost it). It's got a pretty decent amp for a head unit, but I will be using external amps if all works well on ebay. And, I've got no Bose. pictures soon.

I was thinking about getting a Sony WX-7700MDX at one time. I did some research into XM receivers for it and from what I gathered you have to get an XM Receiver that has a Unilink connection in order to hook it up directly to the head unit. Unilink is Sony's interface for hooking up external devices to the head unit. Sony made a XM Receiver that used unlink it was the XT-XM1. From what I gathered though they are discontinuing it. Looks like a few places are still selling it though if you search on google.

You've got to take the trim off any screen I've seen, so you'd have to make your own trim. Not that hard, I'd imagine.

Anyway, here is a pic or two:

Does anyone know if there is an LCD monitor that will have the same metallic finish as our WX. That would look sweet. I have had mine for about 3 weeks and cant tell you how great it looks in the car. It has done wonders for the look of the interior inside and out. I have gotten many compliments and now know why i picked this as my first mod!!!!

Damn, dude! I've got two of those H/Us and would have happily shipped the H/W for the 'spare' to you. But hey, that's why G-D made Home Depot.

And the Sony XM receiver is still available from sounddomain.com (mine just shipped). It runs $199, but you're likely to pay at least that for a used one on e-bay. Otherwise, there's always the Delphi units.
