Default Help with BOSE HU

Got the TSB 03-087 done, it was definitely better but I guess the novelty weared off after a month and now it is not good enough.

So what can I do without changing the head unit to make it sounds better. I only want clarity and definition, I don't need a lot of power, I seldomly have the volumn past 15. Thanks in advance for all you advises.

this is a tough question to answer, but if you are not after more bass, but clearer highs and mids, then the fix is easy...upgrade the front speakers to something good. Get some nice seperates installed. I recommend JL Audio Cx Evolutions, Boston Pro Series, Focal Polys, or MB Quarts. Anything will sound better than the stock Bose speakers. You will notice a night and day diffenrence with jsut a cheap-o set of SOny or Pioneer speakers versus the stock Bose speakers. If you want to spend $500, get a nice set of seperates. If your budget is more like $200-300, you can get a cheaper set of seperates for the front.

Goto crutchfield and look at prices, or visit your local shop and see what tehy can get you. ANything will be better than stock Bose, and a good set of seperates will make a huge improvement.

There's no need to mess with the rear speakers, they are difficult top get to, and have little impact on what you are tryign to achieve.

If you feel that you need more Bass, then you are getting into some upgrades, which will involve an amplifier, a new sub, and sub enclosure, which could get expensive. So start simple and upgrade the stock door speakers and tweeters and see if you are happy, then take thigns from there...

Let me know if you need any other help...

onecoolee,

thanks for the advise but when I went to Crutchfield and select 350z, they show no speakers for front door fitment. Is our front door special ? What size of speaker and tweeter fit in the door without modifications ?

I think our factory tweeters are 1" and may require special brackets. Our door speakers are 6.5 inches, and probably will require a 3/4" to 1" trim ring for proper installation.
