Integrating Sub Into System
I am running the OEM non BOSE headunit in my 03 at the moment and am adding a sub in a Zeclosures box under the strut bar.. I need to get the signal from factory unit to my amp. I was going to use one of these LC2i AUDIOCONTROL 2 CHANNEL LINE OUTPUT CONVERTER..
Has any one used one? Are they any good??
Also what wires should I look at tapping? Just the rears for the sub.. Or should I tap the fronts?
Or am I all wrong in my assumption about the whole thing???
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!
THANKS

no youre about right on. but know that LOCs suck, its just gna be a super limited sub system in comparison to a legit set up, but I ahve a feeling you just want a little more than sto ck, am i right? if so, youl be fine. Id tap the rears that way you can fade the sub level.. as the rears dont do much on the stock set up. Are you leaving stock speakers in? They are truly terrible.. dont see how anyone would want to retain them.
There are several aftermarket radio options that dont look that bad in the dash, i gotta be honest.
Would make a huge difference for you to do so.. just saying.
But as for your question, proceed, you are correct.. maybe buy an amp w line level inputs tho.. better than using an loc when its built in..

Just a note; The stock non-bose deck in my 05' had to have the worst sound quality of any stock deck I have ever heard.
For the longest time, I thought the stock door speakers were the culprits, but when I upgraded to a simple aftermarket head unit, (nothing fancy or expensive) the stock door speakers sounded 100% better.
They won't get confused with a set of Morel's, but after the new HU they were finally tolerable.
BTW, The JVC I put in my Z was only ~$150 and offers a bazillion color options. I was able to match the stock color easily.
