I'm thinking of picking up a new set of DLS Iridium 6.3's... and was wondering if anyone has ever tried putting a tweeter and midrange speaker in their a-pillar. Kickpanels would be annoying to me and usually idiot passengers screw them up

also, have you considered the 8.3s?

 

would the 8's even fit in the door though?

 

i don't know of anybody who has done it... i just figured if you can fab a pillar pods you could probably fab 8 inch door pods too. i haven't gone to extent of measuring

 

Not under the stock door panel, but I think it would be do-able with a bit of work. I was seriously thinking about it a while back.

 

i have an image dynamics idmax 12.. should cover the the low end of the 8" that i'd be missing out on by sticking with the 6" anyway

the IR3 mid would be way too big to build directly off the A pillars, you can do one of two options, either the way i have it here:

or you can make a mold onto the window and a semi window/dash/pillar pod. i chose this route becuase i didnt wanna block the window corners.

you may be better off with a smaller dome mid such as the morel CDM88
