Help: Replacing OEM subwoofer and amp
I have a 2003 350z that come with BOSE. Recently, the subwoofer cracked so I have to replace it. I do not looking to have excellent sound quality, so I want to buy a subwoofer that can fit in the original subwoofer location.
My question is I heard that if I replace Bose subwoofer, I have to replace the amp. So which type of amp I should buy? And how to connect the original wire to a aftermarket amp and sub?
Oh, I have a Pioneer unit AVIC F70BT. Any suggestion?
Thanks

please dont do that, the sound quaility will be horrible, your just wasting your time, buy a small box and put it under the strut brace, u will be much happier. as for an amp any small walmart amp will do... ne thing will be better than the blose or a cheap sub stuck in the stock location.
what are u willing to spend??

Not a must to replace the amp, just so i heard aftermarket sub wont work with OEM BOSE amp. But anywayz, my oem amp has problem anyways, sometime it has bass, sometime it doest. I tried the forum fix (put pressure on the little white box), but after sometime, it wont work and i need to re-do the fix.

My recommendation is a aftermarket amplifier for subwoofer.
Primarily because of ease of installation. Bose connections work well with Bose components. If you attempt to add aftermarket components with Bose, you often must jerry-rig wiring. Not my idea of a quality installation.

Nothing wrong with buying a free air sub, putting it in the stock location (along with some better sound proofing), then adding an aftermarket amp with speaker level inputs (thus driven by the factory amp signal). It will be better then the BOSE unit, but not as good as a sealed or ported sub in a separate enclosure.
The problem with the BOSE amp is that it expects some weird ohm configuration you will not get with an aftermarket sub, thus it will never sound right. The only way around this is to replace both the sub and the amp.

ull end up spending more on a free air sub, new amp, and now sound proofing... which will be needed for stock location.
since u have the sub and an aftermarket headunit, bite the bullet and get a box in the trunk, a low priced amp (walmart, futureshop, ect.) and amp install kit and let someone install it that knows what they are doing. like a shop. future shop is cheap. so u dont have ne problems with faulty wireing.

Do you know where can I get a box in Canada? I live in Toronto.
I just bought a 2003 350z Enthusiast and it doesnt have the stock bose amp but I really would like it. Do you know where I can get one? The guy told me that he took it out cuz he didnt like the bass sound(IDK why he'd buy a 350z if he didn't like the sound) so it has the place to put the sub.
If you know where to get the stock bose sub from can you tell me where?
Thanks!
