Default Double Din Radio Advice

Hello everyone,

I've been in the market for a good double din touchscreen radio for a little while now. My budget is around $500 and I've looked at numerous ones. I am leaning towards the Kenwood DNX6180, they have it on ebay refurbished for around 450 with a 3 month warranty.

I suppose what I really want to know is if there are any other double din units that can be had around this price that are better and have more functions. I have searched, but I do not have much experience in this field and don't want to screw myself by not buying the best for my budget. Thanks in advance for any replies!

P.S. I don't mind buying refurbished as long as there is some type of warranty.

Thanks for the advice man. I just looked at the X940bt model and it looks pretty good, but the cheapest I could find it was about $600. I might just cave and get it anyway though. If anyone has any other suggestions, throw em my way!

That's just $100 more than your original budget... I'd get the X940bt if I were you.

I really like the Pioneer Avic series double dins. I put an X930BT in my car not too long ago and it was a great investment. The GPS works flawlessly, has tons of options to customize it, and it's easy to use. I got the iPod connector cable for it off of Amazon as well, which allows you to control the iPod through the radio interface.

I'm also looking for a double din touch screen. This is one I have been considering.. Where do you have the ipod cord coming out? That's the main issue I have with this one. I'd sooner have one with bluetooth music streaming than having a cord constantly hanging somewhere lol

The Ipod cord connects to the back of Pioneer Radio's , You can route the cord anywhere you like . Not sure what you mean by a cord constantly hanging somewhere . I put my ipod in the center console , no cords hanging anywhere .

Appreciate all the advice! I just pulled the trigger on a brand new pioneer avic x940bt for $590 on ebay, it includes the CD-IU51V ipod cable for free. I thought it was a pretty good deal. The seller has one left so if anyone want it, here's the link:

I think Pioneer really has the GPS down pat. I tested it out the first weekend I had it by driving to Arizona and had no problem getting there. Granted most of the time you're on one freeway (seriously for hours on end you're on one road), but when it came to interchanges, exits, etc. it's really clear cut.

The iPod cable is a must for anyone that does not like top 40. I was thinking about getting the traffic tuner and the rear view camera eventually.

I was actually contemplating the rear view camera as well. The way I look at it, we paid to have the capability, might as well get the camera and go all the way!
