Attempting replacing broken cable
I have a broken ribbon cable coming from my gauges to my nav door.
I haven't had much luck finding just the ribbon nor do I really want to wait. So I decided to use computer ribbon cable I had laying around. The spacing when comparing the two is identical. So i used a razor blade and shaved off one side of the plastic to reveal the traces inside. i was able to use the same connectors that came with the stock ribbon cable. I haven't hooked it back up yet.

Does anyone have a better alternative to fixing these ribbon cables other than What I tried?

Well that didn't work. Knew it was a long shot that I would get the contacts to line up and have a good connection. Anyone have any ideas? My only thoughts would be trying ti solder each contact point and maybe doing a disconnect midway between the two for disconnection purposes.
Thoughts?
Anyone know where I could get the cable?
