Default Navigation install

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to these forums and I can't find this anywhere. I bought a pioneer AVIC-U250 to use on my pioneer headunit. The install shows that the power wire for the navigation needs to be hooked into a power supply that is always on, regardless of the car being turned on or not. My question is where would a line like that be behind the stereo?

Not trying to be a smartass, but you really need to look at the FSM and wiring schematic to pick a permanent power source.

There should be a constant 12v lead going to your existing radio.

Thanks! I figured there was but the install directions had me tapping into a wire under the steering wheel.

You need an un-switched constant power line to your navigation so that the device can store certain information (current routing, favorite places, etc.) when you switch off the car. That wire is typically Yellow and there is one going to your H/U.

The wire the GPS instruction references should work as long as it isn’t switched by the ignition. I would use a line tester to check the power.
