Default Upgrading Audio System Questions

I'm planning on brining my car over to bestbuy in a couple weeks to upgrade all audio components in my car (2003 350Z). Right now my car has all stock audio parts besides an aftermarket Pioneer radio. I'm going to be putting in all new speakers, two 12" subwoofers, and an in dash dvd/cd receiver.

What I wanted to know was do I need to buy a dash kit to fit the new reciever and if so where can I buy one?

Also can anyone confirm that the Pioneer AVHX1500DVD will actually work in the Z.

As for the subs does anyone know if bestbuy will have or be able to make a box to hold them for my car or is that something I'll have to order somewhere else too?

Thanks!

Do not go to best buy
Find local stereo shop
You will need a dash kit, any stereo shop should have them
Look into Zenclosure boxes.. or have the local shop custom build you one.

Repeat, repeat and repeat again. That's the best advice you'll get.

Hi, You gave a list of audio components (“I'm going to be putting in all new speakers, two 12" subwoofers, and an in dash dvd/cd receiver…”) you are installing, but your list does not include an external amp(s). You need an amp (or two) to drive the components you are installing.

You will need an expert installer for the installation you describe. BB may not be the best choice for this unless your local store has an accomplished installer familiar with the Z. I would check your local mobile-audio/CES shops. There is probably an accomplished installer near you that can do a great job.

My sincere best wishes for your project,

As for subwoofer enclosure you going to need an audio shop and customs box should be aroun 300 and up depends on what you want.

if you are local you should just buy my 2 12s set up. loud and ready to go.

you can also look at my post just to get an idea on the enclosure.
good luck.

Luis.

I strongly urge you find a shop (by word of mouth) from someone you trust that has gone there and has a positive experience. Then tell them what you want to accomplish and look at the options they offer.

Your list (no offense meant) is like a kid talking about wanting something but having no clue what it really takes to get it.

I mean the above only to help, I see a installer stole my money, f00ked up my car ripped me off thread in your future based on these posts.

If you like the idea of car audio at all then just stop, and wait like 2 more months before you do an install. I went with my local installers recommendations based on their soundboard and what I liked, and ended up getting completely shafted. Get on DIYMobileaudio and figure out what equipment is going to be right for you. Do you REALLY need 2 twelves? Are you going to get an amp to drive your front (and/or rears?) are you going to use rear speakers?

There are a lot of ways to get really good sound out of a Z, and going to best buy and asking them for help probably isnt one of them.

Brian mccann has 2 twelves I think, and his box wasn't crazy expensive. Try and search for that.

Have you thought about doing it yourself? Your install is going to be expensive, and you could take that money and spend it on more gear and learn something about your car at the same time.
