Audio question
Hello,
I just got a kenwood double din to use with my stock bose speakers and sub. I want to keep the bose speakers for now, then replace the bose sub with a kicker component sub in the same location and use another amp to power it.
Is it possible to use an aftermarket amp and sub and still use the stock speakers? Also, has anyone mounted another sub in the stock location? I'm not looking for really strong subs, just something stronger than the stock sub.

Yes of course, although it is recommended you replace the speakers first, at least the front ones. Ive heard OEM speakers with after market subs before, it aint pretty.
Just get a box and put it in the trunk. Or get an 8" sub with a custom box and throw into the cubby.

^^ What he said. Any aftermarket sub in that stock 'chasm' will sound...ummm....suspect. Even 'free air' subs will not feel at home in the stock location. Gert an actual sealed or properly built ported enclosure with an 8 or a 10 in there. Face it towards the back of the vehicle and amp that baby. Replace the front speakers and amp them as well.
