Default What are good speakers to buy?

I recently bought my Z and went to get my speakers checked out because they weren't working, so the guy put in some crappy after market one's because the old were blown. What are some good speakers and how much were they?

I really like my Pioneer components @~$150-200, a bit pricey but so worth it. Sounds good even if you have the stock HU, but best if paired with a higher end system.

I installed Focals in the doors, and am considering Kicker for the rears (midwoofer). I do not have a SubW.

The Focals are incredible.

Which Focals? The 165 A1 looks very deep so wondering how they would fit.
I do agree that Focals have a great rep in home audio, but at 250.00 on up very are pretty pricey.

Edit:

Just saw the CA1s on Amazon for 120.00 a pair which is more like it.
Did you have to use any kind of spacer as those also look pretty deep?
I'm putting in a new Kenwood H/U this weekend with the stock Bose speakers. I expect to be satisfied with that for about 15 minutes, and want to upgrade speakers. Seems some people here suggest using only the fronts and a good sub solution. This is a Roadster, so don't know what my options are for installing a sub in the trunk, but understand that is desirable to replacing the Bose sub in the original location due to vibration.

One of the best mods in my Z33 is the speakers. Love my MB Quart DSC216s up front; matched with a USX-2100 amp for plenty of good, clean power. While others like a clean front soundstage, I like more rear fill, so I used MB Quart co-axials behind me, with no sub. Beautiful, crisp sound- but I'd advise the OP to listen to a variety of speakers. We each hear slightly differently and what's right for others may not suit you.

I installed Focal 165 V Slim. Here is the difference:

165 V Slim - Depth from wall: 56mm (2.2")
165 V2 - Depth from wall: 68mm (2.7")
