Ground points in the trunk
Where are y'all running the grounds for amps mounted in the trunk? I've got alternator whine coming in my speakers and even after changing out my rca's to better ones I've still got it so that leads me to the grounds. I've got my power running down the passenger side, RCA's down the driver side, and speaker cables down the center. My amps are mounted in a rack in the trunk where the spare tire used to sit. Not a lot of options for grounds I'm seeing so before I punch a hole in the trunk floor and tie it directly to the chassis I thought I'd ask where y'all are grounding them. Thank you.

on every single car that i do an audio install (including mine) i always find a grommet in the trunk or drill a hole in the trunk with a grommet to ground on a bolt on the actual frame of the car, make sure to use a wire brush to get a good ground wherever you bolt it on too, sounds like jacking up the car and grounding it to the actual frame sounds like a lot of work but its always worked best for me.

The alternator wine is probably coming from your head unit (assuming you're using an aftermarket one). Are you using the factory ground on it? If so, get a piece of good cable (thicker gauge) and run a dedicated ground point somewhere on the chasis. Use a Dremel to rub the paint off the part where you bolt the wire to and smear dielectric grease on it to keep it from corroding.

I've got some poltergiesty **** going on here. Working on this today and I undid the ground on the headunit and the head unit stayed turned on. That shouldn't happen. I unplugged the antenna (don't ask why I don't know) and the system started popping real loud and making some crazy noises. So I quickly reconnected the ground and it went away. WTF is going on here.
Yes it is a Pioneer and I have read about grounding the RCA's but that didn't seem to work. I'm almost positive the deck is bad and it's grounding itself through some wire some where. I've gone through the entire harness and there are no bare wires touching anything anywhere. I did end up realizing I ran the passenger speaker wire right on top of the amp power wires so I moved that but that didn't solve it.
I really don't want to put a ground loop isolator in as I know it's something simple but I'm kinda at my wits end here. Wife wasn't real happy when I mentioned buying a new head unit but that might be my only option.
Here is how it is set up currently.
Head unit wiring harness grounded to battery
Head unit chassis grounded to car chassis
Amps grounded to bolt in trunk
