What does everyone do with all the oem junk they removed? I just found my bose subwoofer amp in a box, I know I have the factory head unit somewhere, and im pretty sure that other amp is laying around also... Along with the factory speakers.
And its not just my oem stuff, I have 2 amps, 2 subwoofer a dvd navigation touch screen head unit, (that started acting glitchy so was replaced), old head units, wiring harnesses, speakers etc etc
This **** all gets stored or cluttered around the house and im thinking I should just throw it in the trash and be done with it. But for some reason I dont...
Just wondering what others do, I just took that little amp apart for fun, and now I think its going into scrap metal or just the trash bin.
If I won't use it but someone might I throw it on CL or eBay. Make some mod cash
If it's useless I throw it or scrap it. When my cousin was my roommate I use to just give him a bunch of crap cause he was a hoarder and pretty smart when it came to reusing materials for projects and making other things with stuff.
Whelp,
Old Konigs/tires under the back deck,I may go with a G37 vert someday and take my current Enkei's off.
Stocker cats, same place. I might could sell them for $100 US.
OEM springs w 82k, same place. Need to recycle.
OEM airbox is in a bag in garage.
I'm really too ashamed to mention all the others...
90 percent of what I take off ends up in recycle or the trash. Fasteners if they are in good condition I save in my parts cabinet. There are some random things that get saved when I stumble on something I can repurpose.
10 years ago I would save nearly everything that was in good condition. That lead to a huge mess in which I could never find what I was looking for.
Used to save stuff. At one point, had a massive amount of clutter in the gargage. Finally, followed Marie Kondo's advice (she's the queen of clean.... what, you've never heard of her?) about clutter. You stack up all of your stuff and and examine each one asking "Does this [ whatever it is ] still make me happy?"
If not. Boom! Sh*tcan it. Works like a charm. Just dumped a couple of stock exhaust systems, an old bass cabinet (not a car sub thing, a 4.5' tall dual 15" speaker cabinet my dad built for me to complement my bass rig of the day), two sets of stock sway bars, a bunch of old shocks, a brand new front spoiler, a set of tires and wheels I'da never reinstalled (after no one wanted to buy them, I just tossed 'em.) and so on....
Its soo hard not being a horder... And selling things is more hassle then its worth...
Off the top of my head I have...
2 sets of oem wheels
2 oem exhaust systems
1 aftermarket exhaust
2 rear hatches
1 hood
2 upper plenums
Oem intake
Aftermarket intake
And my interior plastic pieces
And thats me getting better about getting rid of things, im working on it.

Yea the hassle is annoying.
I still have a ton of OEM stock parts of my 600, 3 sets of wheels and tires one of which is my mustang GT wheels with basically brand new tires. I've listed them for $200 less than I paid for the tires alone not even including rims and still can't get anyone to take them.
The only time I get interest is the guys offering like 10% of what it's actually worth and even then you know they don't want it. They just want to be dicks about it or know it's a stupid low price.

That is one of the main reason for me crap canning nearly everything I replace, besides the fact the most of it i way too tired to be reused. If I knew someone was in need of something local to keep their car on the road I would offer it free with donation
i kept most of my stock stuff for a while, if someone needed a random part or something i would sell it. the guy that bought my car got all the stock parts with it.
now i have a collection of corvette parts starting in garage.... headers, exhaust, intake... ugh
I do this too but for my winter beater. And I re use the parts I've taken off to repair other things with, so the car is pretty much repairing itself with it's own parts. Hose broken, use parts of an old broken hose. Pipe fitting broken, cut new fitting out of old pipe that got cut out... so on and so forth. It's almost perverse how long you can keep a car running without buying replacement parts!
Got my own private scrapyard. And I live in a flat. Yeah.

Hello I'm swedish and I'm a hoarder.
I have a Nissan 350z factory resonator on my Chevy s10 as a muffler... It sounds terrible, but I didn't feel like buying parts for that truck.
Hit a new low today, but im soo excited to build new boxes and playing with this shitola it actually sounds pretty impressive, and yes those were my front speakers from the Z.
0I had to take my door panel off today. Noticed that the wires connected to the input on the crossover were spliced into what in guessing are the oem speaker wires? They are supposed to be connected to my bridged 4 ch amp. I thought the wires from the amp are supposed to go into the input on the crossover. Im confused? Did the installer sonehow reuse the oem speaker wires?

That would be the factory wiring for the door speaker, im guessing he just tapped into it or has your rear amp wires bypassed in the back. You might wanna go look and see if your factory bose amp is still hanging out in the hatch...
If its back their just hanging out disconnected you might wanna just take it out...
Running new front speaker wire is a PITA. I don't blame the installer for not bothering to do it right.
