Default GPS Nav System failure

System display would go blank; door would close for no apparent reason intermittently. Dealer replaced DVD drive unit. System worked OK for a while, but went blank, one time. I returned to dealer and they replaced the video display. System again went blank, would restore then go blank again. Dealer replaced amplifier card and BTW introduced rattle into gear shift. System is now inop and will go back in 1 March. Dealer suspects pinched or chafed wire. Any ideas?

BRO! the same damn thing happened to me after 1000 miles. I was so pissed! The dealers have no damn clue what to do either. The kept telling me the screen blew and I told them no way b/c it would go on once in a while then shut off again. They didn't listen. I said guys it has to be a connection somewhere in the system. They said no b/c it tested fine. I said ok whatever. Then the door wouldn't open at all. Then some days it wouldn't close. After about two trips to the dealer in which they all looked at each CLUELESS, they got some help from a Nissan engineer. He said their is a cluster pack or wires behind the system that may not be functioning correctly or was not assembled right when shipped and it will still show healthy when tested by a computer so will go un-notied but he's sure that is it. So my dealer is ordering a NEW cluster. I will have it in a few days and will keep you posted. This better fix the damn problem or I am going to kick some *** in this place!

Keep me posted on your progress man.

Sounds exactly the same as mine. I'll let you know what they do this week.

Ok bro I have the answer. I went to the dealer yesterday b/c my part was in. Sure enough it worked perfectly. The GPS door comes off and behind it there is a cluster / computer chip that controls the screen of the GPS as well as the motion of the door. He showed me the part and said they tested it and it was not functioning at all. Once he put the new door mechanism on with cluster / computer it worked like a charm. He said it must of been a bad unit from the factory. I have not seen one problem yet and it works great. They even gave me a free synthetic oil change b/c of the inconveniance.

Good luck bro...I am sure this is the problem for you.
