Default Purchasing Equipment Online

Someone told me today that purchasing any audio equipment online will void the warranty on that item. Does anyone know about this issue. Thanks.

It depends on the company and the online retailer. For example, sounddomain.com is an authorized retailer for all the products they sell. On the other hand, companies like Diamond Audio do not authorize any online sales of their products at all. So make sure you are buying from an authorized internet retailer if you are interested in the warranty coverage. Online retailers usually have higher prices though. Also, be careful sometimes the web site will say their products carry warranty but it is not warranty from the manufacturer.

I bought a Kenwood head unit to replace the stock hu in my MDX. I bought a Sirius antenna and received a free Kenwood sirius satellite receiver. Installed it and it was working great. Then the satellite receiver went out. Crutchfield is shipping me a new receiver. They have 24 hour/7 day support.

www.sounddomain.com and www.crutchfield.com are two well-respected factory dealers.

There are many many other dealers that sell products such as Alpine and Infinity but are not factory authorized and the warranty will not be honored. There are NO factory authorized dealers on Ebay.

all of my components came from hookedontronics.com, etronics.com and carstereoexpo.com. Anybody know if they are authorized dealers for infinity and/or pioneer equipment?

hookedontronics
"Q: Are you authorized dealer?
A: We are not authorized dealers for certain products, as we do not follow the company's MAP (minimum advertised price) policies. These products are covered by our own In-House limited service warranty for 180-days, and covers parts and labor. Should you be interested in an extended warranty, you may purchase one within 30 days from invoice date."

etronics

"*Please Note: We do not adhere to the Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer or Acoustic Research Internet and MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policies, and are not authorized by them to sell their products via the internet. Yamaha, Denon, Pioneer and Acoustic Research products are not included in the statement made in the previous paragraph. However, we continue offering our customers Yamaha, Denon and Acoustic Research products at heavily discounted prices, see more about warranty issue"
