Default 4 ohm to 2 ohm

I have a 4 ohm dual voice coil sub and I want to convert it down to 2. Is this a good idea? If so, how do you go about doing this?

Wire the postives together and the negatives together. This is only bad if your amp is not two ohm stable, and almost all amps are.
