Default Which Security System?

Now that i have added some new stereo components to my Z, I am looking into adding a security system to it. I am not really sure what brand to look into. I want an alarm that has keyless, the trunk latch as well as remote start. I guess I'm looking to see what other people are running and how they like it. Also, what kind of $ am I looking to drop. I realize that the cost depends on the installer, but I'm just looking for a WAG. Also, what is everyone's thoughts on remote start? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Check out the Viper 791XV. I've got it in my truck w/remote start.
It's funny to start your car with a person standing next to it.

I've also added the following features.
Shock sensor
Glass break sensor
Roll windows up/down
Trunk pop
Gas door pop
and a couple others but can't remember at the moment.

It ran me about $650.

Put car into continious tracking mode.

And one spare Pink wire to Do Remote Start.. or what ever you can rig to a 12volt relay.. Gas.. Explosives? Ejection Seat..

That is a sweet alarm I just can't justify paying that much for an alarm. I am going to go with one of lower end models bu still get shock sensor, trunk, doors, proximty notifiction for $250 installed.

If only they charged you a flat monthly charge rather than charging you per use. That could get quite pricy.

Yeah, I was wondering how that pricing worked. For them to give a 3000 mile coverage, I wonder what the fee was for that coverage.

ask any car alarm pro and he'll tell you the same thing "if a thief wants to steal your car, he will no matter what system you have."

thats why i stuck with the basic car alarm that came with my Z and went for the more expensive lojack with the early warning system... as soon as my car moves without me being in the car, i get a call on my cellphone in 5 minutes, plus an email, and a page, after which the cops activate the lojack and trace my car.

i sleep better at nights now ...

no car alarm can beat this situation : - imagine sitting at a restaurant with your handy little pager (that comes with good car alarm systems), someone breaks in and steals your car... too bad you're in an area that the pager cant receive because of the thick walls.. well by the time you get back to find out your car is gone, its probably in mehico being stripped for parts...

The compustar alarm has a 6000ft line of sight range. Thats a little over a mile. Of course walls and such will make the range smaller but I work in downtown dallas and i can start the car in the garage from my office which is 2 blocks away. Also, like I said in an another thread. It has remote start (no i don't drive an auto, it's a manual) The alarm has a safety feature so it won't start the car unless it is in neutral and the parking break is activated.
