Default chazz digimoto!

figure we should discuss our digimoto experience somewhere other than chazz's classified thread.

first off. I love this damn thing. Im easily impressed by nifty gadgets, but this is way up there. sadly, I fear I will run into a wall soon if I dont stop playing with it.

some things though, anyone figured out how to save your car info as a default for the dynometer? for the keyboardless folks out there, its a pain typing in the info everytime. I guess you dont dyno all that often, but itd be cool.

as for updates, the LEDs are cool. but I found it interesting that the OBDII tx and rx blink within like .1sec of each other. but the PC tx and rx are a good bit farther, like it receives, and then waits .3sec to tx for another peice of data. if you could speed that up, itd be golden.

also anyone notice that the speedo(when running alone) actually updates faster than the cars digi speedo?

data logging is sweet, with 1 feild logging, how many hits are you getting per minute. I havent actually tested, just curious to see if we're all getting similair amounts.

you need to keep your eyes on the road

when I was testing the 1/4mile and dyno, I keep looking at the cool graphics, hehe... very nice software indeed!

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=66308

it runs using a PC or palm. hooks up to a serial port. kinda like a Gtech and OBDII scanner all in one. takes readings from the cars ECU and displays/logs them for you.

with that info, and some other numbers, it can come up with hp, torque, and quartermile/0-60.

hopefully 3.8 will be out soon.

Ares, I haven't installed mine yet. Can you explain what that means (LEDS, tx and rx???)

you see the clear window on there, and there are 5 LEDs. 1 is just like power. but the other 2 go in pairs and you can read the circuit board says OBrx OBtx PCrx and PCtx. might not be PC but something like that.

and it blinks in this order

PCrx-PC requests infor
OBtx-queries the car
OBrx-car respondes
PCtx-sends info back to the computer.

then it repeats, but the longest gap is between the PCtx and PCrx.

its rather cool to watch cause the LEDs just flash like crazy going around as it gets info. I wanna find a place to moungt the thing visible. Im afraid of breaking it or Id open it up and remote mount the LEDs somewhere cool. it is really starting to look like Kitt.

I didn't get it from Chazz but it is the same thing, I think it would be cool if we get a list of paramaters we want to compare between different mods and see what the readings are.

well I have exhaust, but stock intake. perhaps we could do som logging of idle for 10min and highway for 10min at a constant speed and see what MAF and intake temps we get.

compare to some people with different intakes, and see if the plenum you have changes the numbers too.

Unhappy

I got the OBDII today, looks very nice, but It did not work the thing is that, you know the startup window, were it does that checking thing, it stops at the last one, I think its "Retrieving DTC and OBD" anyway it’s the fourth check

The funny thing is if I close the program and launch it again, it can not even see the box, I mean the first check on the list will be X’ed

What should I do?

Az (very sad and unhappy )

PS: I have an '04

Is the car on when you are doing it? It will get stuck on that last step if the car is off.

Just installed mine today.

I am having the same problem. It'll go through the four step start-up process. The first is "checking COM port 1" and the 2nd and 3rd ones I can't remember but they all get their little green OK check marks. Then before the fourth (lowest) box gets it's green check, the program window opens up. It is the one with the green "0" on the top left and the red "0" on the bottom left of the screen. Both of these zeros have a drop down list to their right. I have tried putting in all different things in the drop down lists (engine temp, RPMs, etc) and they still stay at zeros. I have done it with the engine on, engine off with key turned two turns, and engine off with key turned only one turn. Same result.

Also, when I click on ANY of the other tabs at the top (the 1/4 mile tab, the dyno tab, the clear CEL tab etc) nothing seems to be happening.

Can anyone take me step by step as to what I have to do to get this to work?

Does the engine need to be running BEFORE you even bring the program up? I think I did that but I'm not positive.

also, I did some logging today, then realized... I have no way to get info in the car, out of the car.

I need to get a USB memory stick. no floppy no cd burner. so the date is stuck.

but I logged 5min of driving from a cold start on an 84degree day. measure MAF, intake temp, and absolute throttle position. might be interesting to see them on a excel graph together. the intake temp rose GREATLY, 10-15degrees when I was sitting for even a few seconds at a light. running between 95-110. but after only 5min it never really hit full operating temp I dont think. I couldnt log coolant temp too cause I dont have a ctrl key to hold

The engine needs to be running or it can't read the ECU and complete the steps.

I have not had that issue, I have only had sometimes where it cannot find the port and I have to unplug and replug the cable and restart the program.

Ares, never underestimate the IDIOCY of a "real doctor"!!!

My screen resolution was set to 600 X 800 so the start button was not visible!!!

I reset it and now that I can actually see the start button, it works much better now! Unfortunately EVERYTHING is so tiny now, these 42 year OLD eyes can hardly see it!

I'm going to do some driving with it on today.

Hi. Anyone know what kind of data rate you're getting with the device?
