Default G35 Nav to play DVDs?

Someone told me there is a way to let the Nav DVD player. play regular DVD movies and such?

Or is there some kind of panel that will let you change the bose head unit to buy a aftermarket DVD player?

The US doesn't allow factory vehicles to be equppied with a DVD player that can be used (to watch movies) while the car is in motion. I'm sure you could find a way to make it work, but it would be easier to not get the NAV and get an aftermarket screen with the things you want.

Found a place called AV electronics that sells a adaptor that lets you play DVDs on Nav player for around $500. www.AVelectronic.com

Does anyone know how i can change the head unit on my G35? it isnt a normal head unit you can pull out and put another in, its like built into the whole console.

The Navi DVD in the G35 (and the 350Z) cannot read a video DVD, it can oly read data DVD's that contain mapping information. There is no kit or reprogramming of the DVD mech that will allow it to play DVD's.

The kit from AV Electronics requires a separate DVD player for DVD video playback.

As to the removal of the factory head unit, it can be done, but you will need to find someone with contacts in Japan. There is an aftermarket adapter kit that allows an double DIN or a single DIN chassis radio's to be installed. However, this kit is expensive, between 150 and 200 dollars US (if you can find one).

Hope this helps...
