What Components Are You Using In The Doors?
Give the Kendwood eXcelon 6.5" a try. They are supposed to be shallow enough to mount with no mods. I have them but are not intalled yet. Another couple guys on the forums have installed them with no mods needed.
heres a layout of my speakers......
stock speakers in the door (for navigation)
rear speaker are empty storage compartments w/detachable grill.
HIGHS:
a pair of ILLUSION AUDIO CH1 (compressed horns)
under each side of dash.
MIDS:
custom kick panels w/FOCAL UTOPIA 165W (6.5") driver. kick panel metal reinforcements (fenderwall) was removed, recessed and rewelded, also relocated fuse box, clutch switch, multiplex modules, wires, etc. to accomadate fiberglass kick pods.
LOWS:
in the bottom(floor) are 4-ILLUSION AUDIO Nd8 (8")drivers, 1 under each floormats and another under each seat (seats were raised 1/2" only to accomadate)
ULTRA LOWS:
and in the trunk is a 15" ILLUSION AUDIO Nd15, playing below 43Hz, since sub is only 4.75" depth, box was at stock height.

Klipsch 6.5" Cerametallic mids in the doors
Klipsch tractrix horns from a RCW-3 molded into the kicks
modded xo from the rcws ...
I had to make a MDF ring to mount the mids ... so they are spaced out a bit.
I was suprised at how little room we have to work in there.
As long as you are installing yourself ... just get creative .. you can make it fit.
Al,
Very nice install ... how did you get the nd-8s in the floor?
Is that the Pioneer premier 9?
Are you using its internal crossovers for the front 3-way setup?

the P9 has built-in 4way electronic x-overs/time align.
I'm running the PCE216's and didn't have any problems. I had the stereo shop do the install but I'm sure that they would have charged if they had to make any modifications. 6.5 in the door and the tweeter in the stock location. They mounted the crossovers under the seats because it was closer to the amp and you want to get as little exposure to heat and moisture as possible.
