Default Navigation install.....price?

What is the ball park range I can expect to install a navigation HU professionally? I just got a quote for $200 dollars. Is that a little steep?I would have thought around $100.Thanks

200 is probably about the average rate for professional job installing navigation unit and screen.

I went to another place and got it installed yesterday. The Head unit I installed was the Pioneer AVIC-N1.They charged me 180(tax included). Kinda steep, but I wanted it installed asap.

That's a very complex hu, from what I remember. More than just a navi. 180 isn't bad at all.

Why did ya decide on the AVIC-N1? Just trying to figure out the differences between that one and the AVN2454. Not sure what to get.

How do you like the AVIC-N1? I bought one but I'm afraid to open the box because I don't Know if I will be able to see the screen with the top down. I messed with the demo unit in the shop but there was too many features to try them all.

I love the AVIC-N1. After getting use to the controls, I have to say that this is the best navigation/DVD HU in my opinion. Also plus the fact that I got it for a very cheap price. I like the touch screen especially because you don't have to punch in all the numbers and letter with a remote, which makes it easier.

The Avic-N1 is the way to go, there is one MAJOR difference between that piece and the Eclipse AVN piece and that is that the Pioneer has an ebrake wire which can easily be grounded out for viewing DVD, the AVN however, only allows you to view DVD when it's GPS signal has deminsihed IE meaning you are stopped... A lot of people are going to be mighty dissappointed when they discover this.

Not to start an argument or anything but I have the AVN2454 installed last week totally love it, but you can have it wired so that you can watch DVD while you're driving w/ no problem. I actually choose the eclipse cuase of the dual slot, if you want to listen to a cd/mp3 disc and also have nav you can cuase there are 2 slots. The eclipse also looks very oem if installed right and that was the look i was going for. I got it installed cuase my friend owns and Al & Eds out here so I got a killer break on install and the unit but a good install price would be around 200, factoring in they have to tap into the speed sensor for the NAV. If you're like me with the Bose its even harder but can be done.

i got pulled over once while having a DVD playing but I quickly switched it to the computer screen on the AVIC and when the cop asked me what it was, I said it was a "stand alone fuel and ignition timing management system with integrated navigation " with a serious face ... and cop looked at me dumbfoundedly and then told me to just slow it down.... lol ...

My risk of getting pulled over in NY is just as great with or without the DVD on.But if I ever get pulled over I'll try to remember what you said Phoenixtroy"stand alone fuel and ignition timing management system with integrated navigation "=)
