Default Sirius problems - has anyone experienced this yet?

I have a weird, intermittent problem that I can't seem to figure out - hoping maybe someone else has experienced it too!

I have the Kenwood 7015 with the kenwood Sirius tuner - in the car for about 3 weeks now. For the last week, when listening to Siriud (regardless of the channel), it only plays out of the drivers side speakers! If I cycle to CD, DVD, or the regular radio tuner, it plays in full stereo as it should. Occassionally, shutting the headunit off completely, then powering back on solves it, but 9 times out of 10 it does not. It is totally randowm, as has nothing to dow tih hitting bumps in the road, turning one way vs the other, etc. Sometimes it works as it should, but most times it does not.

Yesterday I brought it down to my installer to ahve him look at it. He swapped the Kenwood brain, and it worked until this morning, when it started the same thing all over again?

From what he tells me, the cable that connects the Tuner to the headunit is the same type as used on a CD changer? Do these ever go bad?

Any feedback would be great - I hae a long trip to IAS scheduled this week, and would love it to be 100% operational!

Thanks guys

Adam

It does sound like a short in the cable from the sirius tuner to the kenwood or the sirius tuner since you have replaced the HU.

No way to really know without swapping the cable and if the problem remains, then the Sirius tuner.

I have the same head unit with sirius for almost two months now and I haven't had this problem. The only thing I can think of is check the wiring

Sounds like the "brain" is either bad, or the wiring is suspect. Check the wiring first, if not, send the unit to where you bought it and get it replaced.

Obvious question: Did you check the fader/balance settings, that head unit keeps individual audio profiles for each component (sirus, tuner, dvd, music keg, etc..)

It would have to be the wire that runs from ther tuner to the HU. Yes, it is the same cable that the CD changer uses. My cable runs from the HU to the Tuner, and then another cable of the same type from the Tuner to the changer. Mine works fine, but if the speakers are cutting out only through Sirius, then the cable is either loose, or bad.. The only other thing I can think of is if you have AMP wiring along the same run as the cable. Hope you get it solved.
