Default Your opinion wanted: Diamond vs. Focal | Zapco vs. JL

Speakers in the same price range that i am considering:

1)Diamond Audio Hex 600s
2)Focal 165KP

Amps in the same pricerange that i am considering:
1) Zapco AG350 350W 2-CH Amplifier
2) Zapco Reference 350
3) JL audio amp 300/2

I would love to hear ANY input you have about ANY of these products. I have done my searches and research. I would just to hear any final thoughts or comments/reviews you guys might want to leave. Thank you much!

I have the JL 300/2 and think it's a great amp, though i can't compare it to zapcos because ive never used them nor do i have any friends with zapco. The JL amp works great though - nice and clean, and also sufficiently powerful for either component speaker that you're deciding between. It has a lot of tunability on the amp as well, which is always nice.

sadly I have had just about everything you listed. Based on what i have owned in the past. Diamond's tweeters will sound a bit "higher" vs the more "warm" focal tweeters. Which ones sounds better is subjective to each person. Some like the higer pitch sounding, some like the warmer sounding.

Amps
Zapco AG=Zapco Reference pretty much, just the casing is different.
My zapco's seem to sound a bit cleaner vs the JL when i had it. But I am running symbilinks though. The JL amps felt to be more sturdy vs the Zapco, seemed like it was able to stand up to more abuse. Without symbilinks I'd have to give an honest answer and go with the JL but with symbilinks id go with the Zapco

They are line drivers designed by Zapco. It creates an output of either 18volts balanced or 9 volts unbalanced. What it does without going into too much detail is convert a unbalanced signal into a balanced signal, pretty much to remove as much distortion as possible. And when used with a Zapco amp symbilink cables are used all the way through and the signal is balanced. The idea behind it is to get as much SQ as possible. They dont make headunits like they used to, I had an old old kenwood that had no internal amp, but had an output of 8V balanced, that with the symbilinks and zapco was one very clean setup, I was sad to see it go cause I needed more features.

yes it is easily added. Only thing if u add it later on is that you will have to re-run the cables, take out the RCA's and run the symbilink cables since those replace the RCA's

Alright I think i am learning more about all of this stuff :-) Is this symbilink plug and play or does it require some tuning? Also, what is the difference between the different models of symbilink?

its plug and play..the different models are for different applications. The TP4 is used with the 4 ch amps the U is used with mainly sub amps, it has plugs for bass control and volume control

quick word...I believe zapco redesigned their cables within the last year. The original ones, like the ones I have tend to come loose a bit. It hasnt been too much of an issue with me depending where u install it. If all the cables and symbilinks are secure then no issues. But if they are installed in a location that causes them to move a bit then it will come loose. As for how to tell the difference I dont have a clue, you would have to talk to zapco about that.

hndumafia - I was talking to conceyted earlier and for him a zapco dealer was too far so he has to buy them online. Ive seen them online but forgot were.
