Default Something is killing my ears

After $7500 worth of work, my stereo still have some problems. I need expert help to identify the culprit.

Pioneer AVH-P7500
AVIC-80DVD GPS
Kicker Resolution 6.5 components in front with tit tweeter
Kicker Resolution 6.5 combo in rear
A/D/S 5 channel amp
Custom Box with 2- Kicker 8 CompVR

Bass is great tight powerful

Midbass is great tight

Midrange/high is terrible like needle stabbing me in the ear, coming mostly from the tweeters. Try covering it with a napkin or direct it away and its livable. It so bad that I can't leave the EQ on flat cuz it feels like my ears going to bleed. I adjust the eq to make it bearable but now everything sounds muffled and occasionally a squeak or two will come out and eek.

Highs are okay, clear, a little exaggerated but fine

My installer suggest I get another set of speakers for the from with silk dome instead of the titainium. If that is the case I was thinking of swapping out just the tweeters in front for silk ones.

I am just so tired of throw more money into setup, but I really want to fix it.

Please help! Which is it the amp, speakers, tweeters? Thanks

man, after $7500 that stereo system should be makin' you a sandwich, and doing your taxes!

I'd lean toward the components you picked. I never really liked Kicker component sets. Way too tinny and harsh.
Something a little higher end, with a silk domed tweeter might help... or if there is an attenuation setting on the component crossover (a lot come with a 0dB and a -3dB setting), try setting it lower.

I don't like titanium tweets. Too harsh IMO. A silk dome tweeter will sound more natural and cause you less fatigue. Also, if possible, I would reduce the amount of power you are running to them. If you can reduce the volume by 6 or 9db, you will still hear the highs, believe me.

High frequencies have a tendency to "appear" in a relatively concentrated audio field and placement can drastically reduce the amount of presence that they have. Might wanna try that too.

Turn the X-overs down or take some of the mid-highend out. I had to do that with my Type-Rs. It takes some EQ work but you should be able to get it down.

In some cases, no amount of eq work will help harsh highs without destroying the soundstage.

You've got an A/D/S amp, so I would guess your installer sells A/D/S speakers as well. Get a demo on a set of 346is. Smooth highs and great midbass.

For what you have invested, I'd ask the installer to demo them in your car.

Good luck.
