that wire harness will also work for the bose set-up, i put mine in about a week ago and got a music keg as well, sounds better with the kenwood then it did with stock and as for playing mp3 off of dvd discs it will not it only says disc error, it will read burnt dvd's though.

I sand it down till it would fit
But the trim is flat, and the dash is curved, so it doesn't fit righ, plus it is't wide enough (gap)
I am going to get the Metra kit today, and see if I can shape that to fit, or use both

The Metra 80-7550 Kit is for Nissan 95-Up, so yes, will fit your z

i got the 10gig HD i find it more then enough for me.
I used a dvd+R but i am almost 100% sure it can't read any mp3 off of dvd discs i don't think any monitor combo can read it either with the exception of the kvt915dvd

The harness on the left is the Kenwood MET KN1680 or KN16-80
It plugs right in the the back of the Kenwood (got the HU today)
and the other end plugs into the Nissan 80-7550
And that plugs right into the z's wiring harness.
Only wiring looks to be that fuse, and ground

Dude, you did such a nicer job drilling those holes...mine was re-drilled...then re-drilled...then re-drilled
LOL, and I totally dig that factory face plate cover idea. Very clever. Very cool.

toykilla, I noticed in your install (thanks for the step by step btw) you have another harness here
Looks like with a fuse.
That is what Comes with the hu correct ?
And you just used the harness for power, didn't run it to the battery ?
Thanks
Below is the Nissan and Kenwood harnesses

For those interested my Step-by-step tutorial on the installation is here:
Head Unit Install
For confirmation: YES you can burn mps's onto DVD-R and it works fine (4.7gigs!!). I have mine sorted into folders. My only complaint is the shuffle feature does not work between folders and will only shuffle within a folder.
I am using Ritek Ridata 4.7gb DVD-R discs. You can buy these 50/25$ on newegg.com. I use a Pioneer-107 burner and burn these at 8x with no problem.

ACP... that metra kit actually looks pretty good. I'd be happy with that fit personally. You didn't have to modify it all correct? Coz i noticed it has that nice curve in the middle to match the curved part of the dash
Also, thanks toykilla for posting that step-by-step... it's very informative

ACP, where can I get the metra kit and how much? thanks
It comes with 2 trim plates
1 is for a single din, and the lower part has a compartment
the other is 2 single dins with a small piece in the middle
I just used that one, and cut the piece off
I let them keep the rest, so they just charged me $5
But you can buy the Metra kit on eBay, or local shop
mudger
If you go back one page, you will see the 2 wiring harness to get
If you buy these, there is no soldering needed, and just 1 wire to cut (black wire / ground on the Nissan metra wiring harness)
You just need to run power, and ground (as the stock z wiring harness doesn't have a ground)
The fuse in toykilla picture, is the Accessory Kenwood wiring harness #2, that comes with the Kenwood
Yellow I ran to the battery (with another fuse)
The Green is the parking wire
And the black is ground
I wired the Green, Black, and Black from the Nissan Metra harness togeter in 1 end of a but connector, and the other end to ground.
I grounded it to the ground used by the stock gauges.

Cool, what software are you using to create the DVD-R's ??
Thanks!
