Does anyone really do this?

 

Hell yeah, the first time you get jacked, you'll never leave it on again. I usually just take it off and put it in the glove box or under the seat, if they don't see it, they don't bother with it.

 

Absolutely... a friend of mine got his car busted into when he left the face on. They couldn't get the radio out but, they still jacked the face.

 

Only when leaving the car somewhere overnight and not in my garage. I don't remove it when going to work or going to the store.

 

I remove mine now since its a DVD/Navigation Unit.

Kinda bulky case but thats what the wife's purse is for.

 

It really should be removed... I think people just get lazy to be encumbered by doing so. Kind of like The Club concept as well....

 

mine doesnt remove i have the ddx 7015 so i took the stock radio faceplate off the unit and modified it to clip onto the other so it appears i have a stock radio

 

Hey Blackmumba, that's a great idea, I wanted to do something similar with the aftermarket LCD. I wanted to get the factory NAV buttons and put them on so that it just looks like factory, but I was told you can't get them seperate from the NAV screen.

 

I always remove mine ever since back in the day when some punks broke in to my fiero and took the HU with it's detachable face on it.

 

Hell yes. Although now that I am in escrow for a condo with a garage, the answer will be no when I am at home or at work. Consequently, you would probably need a tank to get into my work without being challenged.

 

I take mine off too.
