Default Buying AVIC-N1 for $700

Well I just got off ebay and I hit a deal with a person who has ten avic-n1's for seven hundred each. I am gonna buy one and see if this deal is legit. I am taking a big risk seing as though he lives in the UK but I am taking a few steps to try and protect myself from fraud. If you are looking at buying an AVIC n1 please let me know and I will let you guys know if this is legit. $700 seems to good to be true but this guy has a pretty good rating on EBAY and we have had good communication throughout the transaction. Wish me luck!

if this is true, then it would be an awasome deal! good luck to you

Considering the best price most people have seen is $1500, $700 sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's not 700 pounds rather than $700? Buy with credit card so you have some protection.

Are you sure that's not in British pounds?

he might have stole it and selling it on ebay, that's the only way you could be getting one so cheaply. Or he could just be outright scamming you.

I just want to tag along on this to see the outcome. I paid $1500 for mine.

Sounds to good to be true. The guy is in the UK, kinda risky if you ask me. You will probably get the box, but nothing in it.

Try Escrow, thats about the only safe bet.

Can you give us a link to the ebay ad?

Well guys I checked out the address and it is a train station... I emailed him to explain this... We shall see what he says about this one. This is how he wants the transaction to go down I go to Western Union and pay foir a 700 money order and email him when this is done. I am suppose to get a number that verifies the money has been sent and a tracking number for the envelope. He then in return is suppose to send the box and email me with a tracking number so I can track the package. I really don't see
how that protects anything. For one I could be the one sending a forged money order or nothing at all and like someone said before he could be sending the box only. With nothing in it. I am in a jam. I really want the unit but something just doesn't add up
. I am going to ask him about escrow. If he says thats a problem then I will say no to the deal.

How do I setup an escrow deal? I will ask him about that if he doesn't want to do it that way then I will know it is a scam.

that's a scam! don't buy it from that guy. i was suppose to buy a kenwood and the guy's from spain he wants me to do a money order under my name but the address is gonna be in spain he told me that once he verifies that the money is there he can ship the product to me once i received it and inspect it i will have to change the name to his name. i went to western union but the guy at the cashier told me not to do it cause there's no security in this transaction especially when dealing internationally. anybody can take your money eventhough it's under your name. try a different route that has more security than this one.. try doing C.O.D via ups

Thanks alot man. I am asking him if we can do it through escrow. I said I would pay for the entire escrow service and that if he was serious about selling such an item he too should have protection against fraud. What if I send him a bogus check or something like that. I just emailed him we shall see how it goes. Thanks for the info though.

Like the old saying goes, "If its too good to be true, then its not true"

One word for you, "SCAM"

Please send us his e-mail or ebay link, I would liek to check it out also.

$100 says he will not do the Escrow. Don't become an OWNED statistic.

Don't

Keep us posted.

I will give everyone his email address and his name only if he doesn't do the escrow. He replied back to me and said that if I was wasting his time to tell him and I calmly replied back that all I want to do is protect myself. So I explained what he had to do, gave him the link to the escrow place and said I would pay for all of it plus an extra $25 for the trouble of doing it this way. If he says no I will let all of you know what this guys email address and username is in ebay!

This is totally a scam. Be careful!

I have even heard of people setting up fake escrow sites, so check out whatever you decide to go with. He probably won't agree to that though.

I have to agree with everyone else on this thread. Sellers who only take money orders or money by wire are usually scammers. There's no reason why he can't use paypal (unless paypal doesn't handle international orders...can't remember). Also, since you offered to pay for the escrow service, there's no reason why he shouldn't take that offer. BEWARE...

Sounds like a typical ebay scam to me.

Watch out because the scammers even have fake escrow services and other tools.

Even if you are successful in getting a new, perfect unit for that price, will you get the North America maps? Buyer beware...
