Default Got Lasered

Of all things, I got tagged by my own.

Coming back to the military base after dropping a movie off, and this jackass beside me would not let me get in front of him approaching the military gate. BTW, I rarely if at all ever speed.

He kept speeding up. The road leading to the gate eventually is coned to one lane for security reasons. I gas it to get in front, and as soon as I slow down about 150 feet from the gate my V-1 went nuts.

So I pull up, the guy takes my ID and tells me to pull over. At of all the shifts, this is the one I hardly know anyone.

Anyway, thinking the guy knows me, I get outta my car asking what the hold up was. And of course it had to start raining.

The young guy screams at me to get back into my car. I am like what the hell. So this older guy comes out of the gate and gives me a direct order to get back into my car, screaming at the top of his lungs. I am like, I just want to know whats going on, since no one has said a word, they just took my ID.

Of all things, one of the patrols was standing inside the gateshack doing laser in front of the gate on foot.

Luckily, I knew the Mid shift supervisor and I call him on the phone. He gets to the gate and tells me they clocked me @ 35 in a 15 mph zone. He said normally in these cases, they would have to arrest the person since it was double the speed limit. I told him my story, I was trying to pass a dumbass driver who wouldn't let me in front of him.

I'll wrap it up, anyway, the young airman writes me a ticket for 35 in a 15.

The supervisor said he called his boss (who is my boss also). My boss told him to leave the ticket on his desk on Tuesday and he will talk with me then.

BTW, at my base, the tickets are not $ tickets, they just assess points, if you get like 3 a year, you lose your license.

Anyway, long story short, I guess you could say I lucked out on this one. Hopefully my boss will just give me a slap on the hand, since my excuse for speeding up was valid, well not really.

I know I coulda slowed down, but there were cars behind the one I was passing. I deserved the ticket for speeding up, I admit that.

I can see a few folks already typing, so the flamesuit has been activated.

BTW, if I get nailed on this ticket, I will fight it, since the guy doing the laser has never been qualified on the Lidar gun and the ticket will get thrown out.

I guess you could say I got OWNED!

Oh and BTW, for those military folks out there, you know what I am talking about when approaching a military gate. The speed limit is worse than school zones, and they are posted very far away from the gate house.

I never would have dreamed in a thousand years, a patrolman who has nothing better to do, then stand in front of a gate shack and run radar.

Guess it could have been far worse.

I do know about Military Bases, as I am retired Military. Its real tough to keep a good record on Base. Bored Patrolmen and weenie speeds etc.
I was ticketed by Highway Patrol for going 80 in a group of 7 other cars all going 80. I was "picked" out by a Plane and clocked(you know, those stripes on the side of the road, time from stripe to stripe = speed.)
No other car was cited.
Fought it, charges dropped due to PA not providing info to DA.
cost $250.
That is better than having your insurance jacked up for years!!!!!!
Fight the ticket.

Yeah, bored patrolman, you got that right. I like to call our job here where I'm stationed, Mall Security. The only difference is we carry guns. And you have some guys with some chips on their shoulders cause they carry a gun.

No biggie, since my boss is having the ticket placed on his desk. He'll probably wanna hear my side, yell at me, and the ticket will disappear.

I have been in the military 16 years and this is the first time I have ever been pulled over.

The sad part about the whole deal, is everyone goes 20 to 30 MPH approaching the gate. Its no big deal. I just had to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and have an ******* at the gate.

I went out to the same place today and watched over 30 cars doing way over 15mph.
