Guys,

I just did my first fiberglass. Cost of material was like $75. Lots of wasted brushes and containers. If I were to do a second time around, it would be easier because of the experience.

Previously, I wanted to do next to the wheel well. But when I took the stuff out (foam, panel), i just changed my mind.


The size is 15.25 x 7.5 x 11.25 This should give me about .62-.65 cu ft. I will be using 3/4 particle board for the baffle.

The sub will be firing upward.
Here is the pic.

Guys,

Second day of work. I anchor the baffle with combinations of screws on the side and used little studs (rounded wood) to support each corner.

I used nail clue for the edges inside. Some minor sanding, then fiberglass the baffle to seal it.

My mold was made of cardboard. Instead of wasting time tearing it out. It is part of the box now.

Next, I will do some minor sanding and carpet the box.

Any body have any tips on attaching to pieces of carpet together?

This box will be in the stock location.

Can you tell me what shift **** is that? Any links to buy it?

Does it come with a washer piece to connect between the **** and boot?

yeah... i don't get it. why didn't you just use wood? looks like it'd have been easier to me... will this be used in the old stock sub location? looks like a good glassing job, but i don't understand the purpose... usually, you'd use glass when molding a box to a specific non-standard-shaped location, like next to the wheel well like you mentioned. again, looks like a good glass job to me, just curious why you would go to all that trouble when it seems a simple wooden box would've worked fine and been a whole lot easier to build... good luck and i hope it sounds great!

You are right. But with fiberglass, i was able to get the volume that I wanted and it fit very easily.

I am using infinity 10.1d for now. My concern with fiberglass is that it might not sound good.

I still had my cardboard inside (it was the mold), any negative with it inside? I sealed the edges.

ur box is looking good TONY... must be satisfying when u finnally got it in stock location u want... i just made one for the drver side today.. which will fit only an 8" JL w7 at most!!! GOOD LUCK

Mmm, could generate some noise. Looks like you used tin foil around the outside of the cardboard. If so, some of the cardboard may not have adhered to the fiberglass completely creating possible air pockets. That could in theory generate unwanted noise from the box, but I don't know if in real life, you'll have problems. My suggestion, test it out. If it sounds weird, try taking the cardboard out of the enclosure. Just a thought, if you put a few more layers of glass inside over the cardboard, might stiffen it up enough. Just my thoughts though... Good luck!

No washer but don't need it. It has an allen screw on the back side. Just put some electrical tape around the shifter so the screw will have something to grab on to, otherwise it will rattle or possible break loose while driving, like mine did.
