Installing a Lcd into the Nav Cubby 03
Ok guys I just bought a Farenheit 7001 screen. I need help on figuring out how to power it. Like what power cable to tap into and how to do it.
Yes I've done a search, and there have been some decent threads BUT they don't mention much about the wiring. So any help from the guys who have done a screen install would be great.

The power wire you tap into is really up to you.
these are instrutions for installing the IN Z PC and Xernac screen, you will not need to use both Power wires, for just the LCD part of the Install
Connecting Cables
1) You need to find two power (hot) wires and one ground. One of the power wires is a constant on (always on) and is used for both the Xenarc screen and for the constant on for the PC. The other wire you must find is an accessory wire that will be off until you turn the key on (or at least to the accessory on position), this wire will power the fm modulator and the accessory wire to the PC. How to find the wires in the premium bose sound system: There are two plugs that are hooked into the premium bose sound system. The larger of the two plugs is the power plug. Find the BIG wire (a yellow wire with a Pink band) on the larger sized plug, this is the constant on wire, Once again, this wire will run the PC constant on and if you want the Zenarc screen. The other necessary wire is the accessory wire. It is on the other row of wires (opposite the BIG wire) and is at the end of the row. It is light green with a purple stripe on it. These are the two wires I used for all the required power needs. I spliced two wires into each for my required power needs.

Incidently, you buy the motorized door for that cubby (like the one that comes with the Nav option fronm the Nissan dealer for about 90 bucks. Cut the two wires going from the small dc motor to the pc board. Cut em close to the PC board as you can..hook the leads up to 12v volt latching relay and a momentary contact push button... I installed it on the center console...trim the forward part of the plastic sheet on the bottom of the non-powered cubby...install in the front part of the powered door...right where the Nav control panel would go...woa!...motorized door and it looks like factory!...for about $150.00...if you need details let me know...
I recommend stripping the insulation back about 1/4 inch..then using a butt splice connector of the appropriate guage size and crimping...possibly even some shrink tubing applied.
The wiring is pretty simple. On the motorized part there are coming from a small DC wire. The motor is near the top of the assembly in the back. The two wires are realatively small guage so be care ful in striping/splicing operations. The two wires go to a smal PC borad next to the motor. Cut the wires as close to the PC board as you can. To operate the door all you need to is reverse polarity on the two leads to either open or close it. You can test your connections with a 9v transistor radio battery...the door will simply move slower.

Next decide which method switching you want to use. The simplest way is to use a DPDT (Double Pole, Double Throw) switch. You reverse the connections on one set of the poles in relation to the other set of poles. A more complicated version is to a 12v latching relay...this simply a DPDT switch with a electromagnetic coil attached...at the top of the coil is a wire arm that is threaded through a plastic cam...each time power is applied to the coil...the wire arm is actuated to move and cycle the arm...this "Flip-flops" the connection causing the switch to cycle to the other set of poles. You can use a momentary contact..pushbutton style switch to energize the magnetic coil...I installed on on my center console....you may want to lossely wrap the latching relay in foam rubber...It's a little noisy if you bolt directly to a plastic panel in your dash.
I mounted an Alpine TME 580 screen (5.8 inch) This left some room for the control on the right of the LCD Housing to be visible..I used cardboard shims and double stick tape with strap ties to stabilize the mount..it doesn't look pretty from the back...but it works and you'd never know it looking at it installed.

the front looks like this. The part number is 68250-CD070 nomenclature/ description is LID-Cluster. Cost of the dealer part motorized door is 95.00 Take plastic/rubber liner from the old cubby and cut the angled portion of the front...it cover the area where the controls on the factory unit normally is quite nicely. Hope this helps...Regards, Subvet
