Default JL Stealthbox---yea or nay?

After searching, I've only found one very dated thread on the JL Stealthbox. I am leaning towards this box, primarily becuase of the OEM look.

Can those that own this item give me their quicky review? Was it worth it? What is a good amp to run it with? Typical street prices and where-to-buy?

I am total newbie when it comes to stereo equipment...so go slow...LOL

Thanks!

It depends on what you're looking for bass wise. It's 2 JLW3V2 so it will hit pretty good. Another alternative would be to check out Nazar's sub-enclosures. They sound pretty good, a little overpriced.

As for an amp to power them, you can get a JL 500/1, Xtant 6.1. Anything that will push 500 - 600 watts RMS.

i think the reason not too many have the stealthbox is that it's kinda pricey isnt it? I dont know the actual price but i remember reading that thread a long time ago and iirc, it was expensive, but maybe you can get them for cheap now.

It is my understanding that some vendors are selling them for $450, but most retailers seem to sell them for $699. I am still trying to sort out the pricing. But when you consider the cost of the two W3's, and a nice looking enclosure, it seems like a reasonable price for the package.

Also, the audio guy was telling me to get the 500/5 JL AMP. This would power my front speakers with about 100watts RMS, and the sub with 250 or so. Do you think 250watts RMS is enough to power the two subs in the stealth box?

I this to a lot of techno, house, trance...and I like my bass tight, and not very boomy.

I have the e-mail of a vendor, which I got from someone on the board who was happy with their purchase, who is selling the Stealthbox "New" for $500 shipped and the 500/1 w/ the remote bass controller "New" for $420 Shipped.

I'm deffinately ordering the amp from him, but still haven't decided on the stealthbox or 1 10w6 in my own enclosure.

I think for $500 flat its a great deal for what you get.

I'll have to look up the e-mail, He is on ebay too, and has a great rating.

From what I've seen around here, in hawaii. The JL reps sell them for $699 and the non-JL reps sell them for less. Just comes down to buying from a authorized dealer or not.

It depends on how loud you like to play your music. IMO 250 rms is not enough. Ideally, you would like to put anywhere from 500-700 rms to them. It's a sealed enclosure so the subs need to work harder to produce bass.

If you're looking at keeping it all JL, you can get the 300/2 for your components and a 500/1 for your subs. If that's still not enough bass, you can replace the W3V2 with the W6V2. It will hit deeper and might be a little quicker. But if you're looking for quick bass, I'd recommend getting 3 JL8W7s. The only bad thing is that it will be quite costly because you need a 1ohm stable amp.

I love LOVE love my JL Audio stealthbox. I got it for $500 shipped from a guy online. I set it up exactly like JL Audio recomends using a 500/1 to power it. It is plenty of bass for me, and I love the way the box sits and gives me more cargo space under the strut tower bar.

I wouldnt reccomend getting the 500/5. powering your components and your subs with the same amp usually isnt a good idea

Hazade, why not? One of the cleanest, best sounding install I have ever done was with a 5 channel infinity 255a amp.
