Cheap way to add rear cam - need input
I just purchased a Legacy 5.4" Casio CMV54NS46P at Ebay for about $60. It has a control card in it that converts NTSC Composite Video to RGB plus C-Sync. These signals are the same ones that we need if we want to integrate an NTSC rear view camera into the 350Z NAVI display.
Can any engineers see a reason that the converter board in this unit couldn't be used to convert NTSC to RGB for our application.
If this is true, then the cost to integrate a rear view camera would be extremely low. The card from the cheap lcd monitor could be repackaged into a 3x4x1" bud box and stuffed behind the DVD navi unit. a relay could easily be included in the box to allow the system to switch between the navi and the rear cam.
All that you would need is a short pigtail to plug into the DVD reader and a socket for the existing harness to plug into. The whole assembly would run from 12Vdc.
Therefore - comments please!
