My New DVD/NAV system
Just got my new DVD/Nav system installed. The head is the Pioneer AVIC-9DVD, which plays DVD movies and NAV. The screen is the Pioneer w6210 touch screen, removed from its case and custom installed.
An FM modulator allows the movie audio to play through the BOSE sound system.
The NAV system has voice recognition and a backup camera was installed behind the license plate. Enjoy! (Sorry the pics didn't show the quality of the picture)

The install was done by a friend who works for a mobile stereo shop.
The camera is a Pioneer, Model BC-1 (I think; their site is down). Got it on Ebay for $180 (retail $300).

I did not change my head unit. I just purchased the Pioneer separate DVD/NAV head, so it doesn't play MP3s.
I purchased mine from an individual who bought it new and then decided on the AVIC-N1. It has been replaced by Pioneer US with a unit that does not play movies.
Try ebay; there are usually some for sale there.
Also keep in mind, if you hook it to the Pioneer touchscreen, you can use Pioneer's latest NAV DVDs, that have 12 million points of interest. It upgrades the system to the AVIC-N1 nav. status.

I looked around ... is that what I need?

Still trying to figure out how hard it would be to install this ... I'm not too handy ... Why does it make it easier? Also, is the door electronic at that point as well?

MSOsr, I am local and would love to see how that install turned out. I have been looking for a way to add DVD & Nav to my 05 without changing out the Bose. Also, do you think you could ask your friend how much he would charge to install this setup in my Z.
